What the figures show

The U.S. veteran population is becoming smaller overall, while women are projected to account for a growing share. At the same time, millions of Veterans use VA programs and services, and hundreds of thousands of women Veterans receive VA care.

This page brings together publicly available U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs data and reports. Every figure is shown with the reporting year or publication date, and each source link leads to the original material. Population estimates, projections, enrollment figures, and service-use figures are not interchangeable, so the wording for each statistic follows its source.
